TechACCESS of RI is pleased to present this year-long series of professional development opportunities. The focus of this year’s workshops is to help strengthen the assistive technology capacity of your educational and therapeutic teams and provide relevant information to parents.

After School Tech Time

After School Tech Time is an informal, fun time for teachers, students and parents to explore computer hardware and software adaptations with technical support from our knowledgeable staff.
This program is offered through the Schools Project at TechACCESS of RI on select Thursday afternoons from 2-6. 50-minute appointments are available, by appointment, at 2:00, 3:30 and 5:00. Please call 463-0202 to register.
Please note that equipment demonstrated during this time with staff does not constitute a formal evaluation/consultation. Formal assessment services are available from TechACCESS of RI on a fee-for-service basis.

TechACCESS offers this monthly, informal program where youth with visual impairments can meet with peers, friends, technology experts and adult mentors to explore and master a variety of technologies. Our goal is to provide information and resources to help students work together to learn about and become competent with technology tools! And there is no cost!

Blind Access Demonstration looks at technology that provides access to print material. The following equipment will be demonstrated: screen readers, speech synthesizers, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), personal note taking systems, DASIY Players and low tech daily living devices.
This demonstration runs on Tuesdays from 2:00-3:30

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Monthly Demonstrations
These sessions explore technology that can improve access at home, work and in social settings. The following equipment will be demonstrated: amplified telephone equipment, signaling devices such as alarm clocks, telephone ringers, doorbells and baby monitors, and personal amplification for conversations, meetings, social events and television.
This demonstration runs on Mondays from 1:00-3:00 pm.
